It began with Cheikh Semaan Khazen, born in 1898, writer, historian and judge who had a significant contribution to the establishment of the Lebanese Courts of Appeal, by commission of the French State .
Upon his death, he left a huge library rich in historical, political and religious references. He was awarded several decorations, and after his death in 1973, a permanent monument was raised in his honor in the courtyard of the UNESCO palace.
The legal career continued with Ramez Khazen, his nephew born in 1929, a Law School graduate from St. Joseph University. He obtained two years later a degree in French Law from “Université de Lyon” in France before founding Khazen Law Firm in 1958. After holding several positions (Mayor of Zgharta, General Director of the Ministry of Information, and General Director of the Lebanese Presidency), he represented Lebanon in different Arab and foreign forums and headed Lebanese delegations at Arab league conventions. He then took part in Lausanne and Geneva’s conferences. After his death in 2016, his life’s work included legal, political and media books.
